Choosing a Natural Approach to Health—With Wisdom, Faith, and Peace

I want to start by saying this clearly: I am not anti–traditional medicine.
There is a time and place for doctors, prescriptions, and medical intervention—and I am deeply grateful those tools exist when they are truly needed.

But when I can choose a more natural path, I do.

For me, this isn’t about trends or being “crunchy for the sake of it.” It’s about stewardship, safety, and peace of mind—caring for the bodies God entrusted to us with wisdom and intention.

Why I Lean Natural When Possible

My journey toward natural wellness wasn’t something I planned—it was something I had to learn.

I am severely allergic to penicillin, amoxicillin, sulfur, and every traditional antibiotic I have ever been prescribed. Over time, these reactions forced me to slow down, ask questions, and do my own research into alternatives that could support my body without causing harm.

Later, when my daughter experienced serious reactions to traditional medications as well, it confirmed what I already felt in my spirit:
I needed to be proactive and informed when it came to my family’s health.

Add in the fact that my mom was the original crunchy mom before it was cool—and it’s probably no surprise that natural options became a part of our everyday life.

What “Natural” Looks Like in Our Home

Our approach isn’t extreme. It’s intentional.

We use a blend of:

  • Chiropractic care
  • Homeopathic remedies
  • Acupuncture
  • Herbal teas
  • Whole, nourishing foods (yes, garlic is a staple 😉)
  • Natural supplements
  • Regular movement and exercise
  • Essential oils (only from brands that are pure, third-party tested, and trustworthy)

These tools support the body’s natural systems—especially the immune and nervous systems—which research shows play a huge role in overall health, inflammation response, and stress regulation.

A Note on the Science (Without the Scare Tactics)

Many natural approaches focus on supporting the body rather than overriding it. For example:

  • Proper nutrition fuels cellular repair
  • Movement improves circulation and detox pathways
  • Certain herbs and oils have been studied for antimicrobial or anti-inflammatory properties
  • Stress reduction directly impacts immune function (something modern research continues to confirm)

While everything—natural or traditional—should be used wisely, many people find that natural options come with fewer unwanted side effects when used appropriately and under informed guidance.

This is especially important for families like mine, where reactions to medications are not just uncomfortable—but dangerous.

Faith, Peace, and Being the Gatekeeper of Our Home

As moms, we are often the gatekeepers of our homes—
what comes in, what stays out, and what our families are exposed to daily.

I’ve worked hard to create a clean, low-toxic home that supports peace instead of stress. And for me, it wouldn’t make sense to pour all that time and energy into reducing toxins in our environment—only to ignore what we put into our bodies.

That doesn’t mean we’re perfect.

Yes, we eat out.
Yes, we love ice cream (probably more often than we should).
And no, we don’t live in a bubble.

But I believe with my whole heart that small, consistent choices add up—and grace covers the rest.

Choosing Wisdom Over Fear

This journey isn’t rooted in fear.
It’s rooted in faith.

Caring for our health is one way we honor God—not through perfection, but through mindful stewardship.

I’ll be sharing more of our family’s experiences, the tools we use, and what has worked for us over the years. If this resonates with you, I’d love for you to subscribe and walk this journey with me.

Your health matters.
Your peace matters.
And protecting your family is never something to apologize for. 🤍
